Meeting Tibetan People from the Village

Drink Tibetan Tea with a family in a small village near Lhasa

Most villages near cities are rapidly transforming into a part of the city or developing into a township with modern facilities. Villages in remote Tibet are also changing and life has become much easier due to easy access to nearby facilities. Most villagers are farmers but the new generations are opting for alternative occupations.

Basanta Adventure works with the local farming community outside Lhasa promoting village tourism for Sustainable Tourism. A half day tour gives tourists a unique insight of rural Tibet, visit families living there, test local products like yak butter tea. Tourists can enjoy an authentic Tibetan meal and learn Tibetan cooking as well. Basanta Tibet includes a tour to villages in each program to support sustainable tourism and for a unique and genuine experience for the traveler.

Recommendation: Basanta Tibet pays the family for each visit and lunch but the family will be thrilled even if you give them a small gift from your country: it’s a big deal for them!
